Getting those photos you will be taking on your next vacation just got better if you get the Olympus TOUGH TG-810 digital camera with GPS. World renowned provider of maps, traffic and location data NAVTEQ has announced their first digital camera collaboration which brings their advanced data to the Olympus TOUGH TG-810 camera.
The new maps and POI data coming to the camera will enhance the already rich GPS functions included with the TG-810. The camera has a built-in GPS and electronic compass which work together to accurately record the location data for any photo you wish. What NAVTEQ will add to that function is the ability link a specific photo to an exact POI –points of interest– (think train station or ferry terminal) on the NAVTEQ map.
Olympus unveiled the TOUGH TG-810 camera a little bit ago with ruggedness as a feature; the camera was introduced as being crushproof, freeze proof, shock proof, and waterproof. However for camera features the TG-810 isn’t lacking; a 14MP CCD sensor and TruPic III+ image processor, a 5x wide optical zoom lens (with protection), 720p HD video recording, and support for SDXC memory cards.
Right now the camera is available in select global locations but for the US the camera is not available yet. Olympus will be releasing the TG-810 with a retail price of $399.99 in the US.
